Analyzing Land Use Through Twitter Data in Mumbai City, India

Social media platforms provide a valuable source of information for examining how urban zones function and evolve. In this study, we focus on mapping dynamic land use patterns in Mumbai, India, using Twitter data as a proxy for urban activity. We collected over 50,000 tweets related to the city and land-use related keywords, after rigorous cleaning and preprocessing, retained more than 34,000 high-quality records. This dataset offers rich insights into the spatial and temporal dynamics of Mumbai, enabling a deeper understanding of how different areas of the city are utilized and experienced. Such an approach highlights the potential of social media data in complementing traditional urban studies and supporting data-driven decision-making for sustainable urban planning.

社交媒体平台为探究城市区域的运行机制与演化规律提供了极具价值的信息来源。本研究以印度孟买为研究区域，以推特（Twitter）数据作为城市活动的替代指标，聚焦于绘制该城市的动态土地利用格局。本研究共收集到与孟买及土地利用相关关键词关联的推文逾50000条，经严格清洗与预处理流程后，保留了34000余条高质量记录。本数据集能够为孟买的时空动态特征提供丰富洞察，助力学界更深入地理解城市不同区域的土地利用方式与公众感知体验。该研究方案凸显了社交媒体数据在补充传统城市研究、支撑可持续城市规划的数据驱动决策方面的应用潜力。
