Our study investigated the microbial composition of two red flat bark beetle species, Cucujus haematodes and Cucujus cinnaberinus, and their association with host tree species. Study showed that the interaction between beetle species, their habitats, and microbial communities can provide insight into their ecological roles and aid in their conservation, filling a gap in understanding saproxylic beetle microbiomes and emphasizing the need to consider host species and environmental factors in insect-microbe interactions.
