This database consists of a series of maps showing the modeled inundation of Maui County shorelines caused by hypothetical category 1, 2, 3, and 4 storm surges. Maps show inundation along Maui County roads and CRESI transect start points on the islands of Maui and Molokai, previously identified for their vulnerability to the effects of climate change as part of the State of Hawaii Maui County Coastal Road Report (Francis et al., 2024b).
Transects are identified by Francis et al. (2024a). Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) state routes and Maui County roads datasets are acquired from HDOT (2023) and MC (2022). Storm surge maximum of maximum (MOM) inundation extents are determined by the NOAA National Hurricane Center Storm Surge Unit using the Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges from Hurricanes (SLOSH) model and are reported in Zachry et al. (2015).
