This dataset aims to better understand the market demand for encrypted servers across cities in Sichuan Province. To this end, we collected monthly demand and price data of relevant encrypted servers for each city in Sichuan, and conducted corresponding calculations. If the percentage change in the quantity demanded of encrypted servers is greater than that of its price, the demand for encrypted servers is defined as price elastic, indicating that customers are highly sensitive to price fluctuations of encrypted servers. The greater the elasticity value, the more sensitive the demand is to price changes. In this case, all enterprises in the encrypted server industry can appropriately lower the price of encrypted servers in the corresponding city to achieve higher revenue. Conversely, if the demand for encrypted servers is price inelastic, all enterprises in the industry can appropriately raise the price of encrypted servers in the corresponding city to gain higher revenue. This dataset is of great significance for the marketing decision-making of all enterprises operating in the encrypted server industry across Sichuan Province.
1. Data Collection: Collect monthly demand data and price data of relevant encrypted servers in Sichuan Province, then organize and aggregate the data at the municipal level to derive the year-on-year changes in quantity demanded and price of the encrypted servers.
2. Algorithm Rules: Calculate the demand elasticity coefficient using the following formula: Ed = -(ΔQ/Q) ÷ (ΔP/P). Where Q denotes the quantity demanded of the product, with the unit of unit; P denotes the price of the product, with the unit of yuan; ΔQ represents the year-on-year change in the quantity demanded, with the unit of unit; ΔP represents the year-on-year change in price, with the unit of yuan. The absolute value of the demand elasticity coefficient, |Ed|, is adopted as the reference coefficient for data analysis.
3. Data Analysis: Analyze the price elasticity of demand for encrypted servers based on the value of |Ed|:
(1) |Ed| = 1 (Unitary Price Elasticity of Demand): The magnitude of change in the quantity demanded is equal to that of the price;
(2) 1 < |Ed| (Price Elastic Demand): The magnitude of change in the quantity demanded is greater than that of the price;
(3) |Ed| < 1 (Price Inelastic Demand): The magnitude of change in the quantity demanded is less than that of the price.
