In January 2008, stereo-video surveys were conducted in the proposed Capes Marine Park at 3 sites within each of three locations. It appears that the relative composition of the assemblage sampled by baited stereo-video stations and diver operated stereo-video transects differs over a gradient in latitude that is likely to correspond to variation in the trophic composition of fish communities. A cost-benefit analyses showed that baited stereo-video methods were generally more cost-efficient than diver operated stereo-video transects for detecting change in the fish assemblage.
This data was used with data from Ningaloo and Abrolhos regions in a larger study that compared the assemblage composition, relative abundance and size of fishes sampled using Baited remote underwater stereo-video (stereo BRUV) and Diver-operated stereo-video systems (stereo DOV).
