This dataset contains WRF simulations conducted at NORCE as part of the Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment Flagship Pilot Study on Convection-Permitting Third Pole (CORDEX-FPS:CPTP). The simulations form part of the case-study ensemble described in Prein et al. (2023, Climate Dynamics). Three case studies over the Third Pole region were selected to represent different atmospheric processes and seasons:
MCS (Mesoscale Convective System): 14–24 July 2008 – Tibetan Plateau vortex and convective precipitation in the Yangtze basin.
Monsoon precipitation: 27 July–1 September 2014 – active monsoon with extreme flooding and landslides in western Nepal.
Heavy snow event: 1–9 October 2018 – largest recorded October snow event at Nam Co station, Tibet.
The WRF model version 4.2 was configured with convection-permitting (∼4 km) resolution on domain D1, nested from a 12 km parent domain (D2). Initial and boundary conditions were taken from ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis. Reference simulations were performed with standard physics configurations, and additional sensitivity experiments perturbed microphysics, PBL, land surface, cumulus schemes, and initialization strategies.
The dataset includes the reference simulations and selected sensitivity experiments produced at NORCE on Sigma2 resources.

初始场与边界条件取自欧洲中期天气预报中心(European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, ECMWF)的ERA5再分析资料。
研究开展了标准物理参数化配置下的参考模拟,同时设置多组敏感性试验,分别对微物理方案、行星边界层(Planetary Boundary Layer, PBL)、陆面过程方案、积云对流参数化方案以及初始化策略进行扰动。
本数据集包含由NORCE在Sigma2超级计算资源上完成的上述参考模拟与选定的敏感性试验结果。
