Cruise: 2524Title: MAV104 HT25 Det fria vattnet - provtagningsmetodikStart: 2025-12-11End: 2025-12-12Area: Kattegat (SDN:C16::02), Göta älvPI: Laura BristowOrg: University of Gothenburg Funding:The data collected is enabled through the financial support of the Skagerak Facility and the UGot Faculty of Science and Technology Description:The key objective behind this course is to introduce the students to different open water sampling methods / analysis (basis of lab exercises and reports); the students will be split into three groups ( Day 1 AM (9-12), Day 1 PM (13-16) and Day 2 AM (9-12)), so only a maximum of 15 students will be onboard at one time, allowing all students to carry out the different sample collection methods (all students will embark / disembark at Nya Varvet); - CTD casts, where they will look at the profiles, select depths to close niskin bottles and then sample for oxygen, nutrients and chlorophyll concentrations. - WP2 net (90um mesh; 0 to 10m) for zooplankton and net for phytoplankton (10um mesh; 0 to 10m) We will sample a transect of 6 stations in the Göta Älvs river plume (not all stations per group, aim to complete all stations over the three groups, with some stations repeated if needed), with the transect starting at approximately 57 39.64N 11 48.37E and ending at 57 43.16N 11 41.94E with stations spread evenly between the two points.
