Aortic Thrombus after Coil Occlusion of a Type E Patent Ductus Arteriosus

A 5-year-old girl was referred to our institution for closure of a silent patent ductus arteriosus. Cardiac catheterization revealed a tiny-to-small patent ductus arteriosus of the elongated, conical type (Type E). Coil occlusion was performed with a Gianturco coil, 0.035-4 cm-3 mm. A follow-up echocardiogram showed a very small residual ductal shunt and a moderate-sized thrombus at the aortic end of the ductus arteriosus. The patient remained asymptomatic. 一名5岁女童因无症状动脉导管未闭（silent patent ductus arteriosus）转诊至我院接受封堵治疗。心导管检查显示，患儿存在细长圆锥型（E型）微小至小型动脉导管未闭。术者采用规格为0.035-4 cm-3 mm的Gianturco弹簧圈（Gianturco coil）实施弹簧圈封堵术（coil occlusion）。随访超声心动图（echocardiogram）显示，患儿存在极少量残余导管分流，且动脉导管主动脉端可见中等大小血栓。患者始终无临床症状。（《德克萨斯心脏研究所杂志》（Tex Heart Inst J）2002;29:210–2）
