This dataset provides climate data records of sea ice thickness over the polar regions of the Northern Hemisphere, derived using the RA-2 (Radar Altimeter 2) instrument aboard the ENVISAT satellite at Level 3C (L3C). This product was generated by the Sea Ice CCI (Sea_Ice_cci) project under the framework of the European Space Agency Climate Change Initiative (ESA CCI).
It provides monthly gridded sea ice thickness data on the Lambert Azimuthal Equal-Area Grid from October 2002 to March 2012. Only data covering the period from October to April, which corresponds to the Northern Hemisphere winter, are available in this dataset.
