NTSC TOPIC - Tree Seed Traits

The National Tree Seed Centre (NTSC) is Canada’s only active national germplasm bank dedicated to conserving forest reproductive material (FRM), such as seeds, pollen, and somatic embryos. The NTSC was established in 1967 with a focus on obtaining, testing, storing, and providing native and exotic tree and shrub seeds of known origin for research and breeding. After ratifying the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity, the mandate expanded to conserve the genetic diversity of all native tree species against in situ threats.

国家林木种子中心（National Tree Seed Centre, NTSC）是加拿大目前唯一一家活跃的国家级种质资源库，致力于保护林木繁殖材料（forest reproductive material, FRM），例如种子、花粉与体细胞胚。该中心于1967年成立，最初聚焦于获取、检测、贮藏并提供已知来源的本土与外来乔灌木种子，以供科研与育种使用。在批准1992年《生物多样性公约》后，其职能拓展至保护所有本土树种的遗传多样性，以抵御原位（in situ）威胁。
