VPRS 3853 Building Files: Teachers Colleges and Hostels

This series consists of files containing papers and correspondence relating to the construction, alteration and maintenance of Teachers College and Teachers Hostel buildings in Victoria. All works were undertaken by the Public Works Department (VA 669) from 1885 to 1947 on behalf of the Education Department (VA 714). Upon completion, all buildings passed into the control of the Education Department.The content of the files changed significantly in circa 1956. To this date the files contained papers pertaining to all aspects of construction and maintenance. From circa 1956 the only papers added to the files in this series were documents pertaining to minor works and routine maintenance.
