Bibliography of the urban modification of the atmospheric and hydrologic environment

For hundreds of years man has been aware of the change wrought in the environment by the large cities. The first modification to be noticed and commented upon was the air pollution engendered by the large centers of population. During the past few decades an increasing number of people have become aware that large cities cause other modifications to the environment. This bibliography is an attempt to give interested persons - the administrator, scientist, educator, researcher, or inquiring layman - a starting point from which to pursue their special concern.

数百年来，人类早已意识到大型城市会对环境造成诸多改变。其中最早被人们察觉并加以评述的环境变化，正是人口密集的大型城市中心所催生的大气污染。在过去数十年间，越来越多的人开始意识到，大型城市还会对环境带来其他类型的改变。本参考书目旨在为各类感兴趣的人士——包括行政管理者、科学家、教育工作者、研究者，以及抱有探究意愿的普通民众——提供一个研究起点，以供他们围绕自身关注的特定领域展开进一步探索。
