Reported trend in new mpox cases in WHO African Region countries, January 2022-May 2025

Mpox has troubled African nations for over fifty years, and its resurgence serves as a reminder of the importance of comprehensive, sustainable, and globally equitable public health strategies in healthcare access, human resource development, vaccination, and training of health workers. Dermatologists, in collaboration with other specialists, are required in seamless, transdisciplinary efforts to strengthen surveillance and efforts at control and elimination of mpox. Since infectious diseases do not recognize borders, it is pertinent to continue to emphasize that the health of one region is increasingly linked to the health of the entire world.

猴痘（Mpox）困扰非洲国家已逾五十载，其再度暴发再次警示，在医疗可及性、人力资源建设、疫苗接种及卫生工作者培训等方面，构建全面、可持续且全球公平的公共卫生策略至关重要。皮肤科医师需与其他专科医师协同配合，通过无缝衔接的跨学科工作，强化猴痘的监测、防控与根除工作。鉴于传染病无国界，我们仍需持续强调：任一地区的公共卫生状况，均与全球整体卫生健康水平紧密关联。
