South Para River Riparian Zone in Para Wirra - Woody Weed Control

This project forms part of a larger project to eradicate woody weeds in the South Para River area, in conjunction with work undertaken by the South Para Land Management Program. A great part of the river banks within the park have been treated using previous grants, but there are still several kilometres of difficult terrain to treat between areas of completed work and the western boundary of the park. The project will undertake control of weeds in this area, including Olives, Dog Rose, Cape Broom, Boneseed, Cactus and Watsonia, to reduce their impact and the seed source. This will enable valuable native species to regenerate and enhance the biodiversity value of the riparian zone. Follow-up control will occur as neeeded.

本项目是南帕拉河区域根除木本杂草大型项目的组成部分，与南帕拉土地管理计划（South Para Land Management Program）开展的工作协同实施。公园内大部分河岸已通过前期拨款完成治理，但在已治理区域与公园西边界之间，仍有数公里复杂地形亟待处理。本项目将对该区域的杂草进行防控，包括橄榄树（Olives）、犬蔷薇（Dog Rose）、开普扫帚（Cape Broom）、骨籽菊（Boneseed）、仙人掌（Cactus）及沃森尼亚（Watsonia），以降低其影响并减少种子来源。此举将促进珍贵本地物种的再生，提升河岸带的生物多样性价值。将根据需要开展后续防控工作。
