This data set contains synchrotron diffraction images in TIF format. The images are of San Carlos Olivine minerals compressed and sheared in a newly introduced dynamic rotation diamond anvil cell. The purpose for collecting this data set is trying to induce olivine-spinel phase transformation at room temperature for the first time under severe plastic strain and investigate the strain-induced phase transformation mechanism of olivine. The strain-induced phase transformation of olivine could be the key to solving many enigmas of deep-focus earthquakes.
本数据集包含TIF格式的同步辐射衍射图像(synchrotron diffraction images)。所涉图像的样品为置于新型动态旋转金刚石压腔(dynamic rotation diamond anvil cell)中,经压缩与剪切处理的圣卡洛斯橄榄石(San Carlos Olivine)矿物。本数据集的采集目的为:首次在室温与强塑性应变条件下诱导橄榄石-尖晶石相变,并探究橄榄石的应变诱导相变机制。橄榄石的应变诱导相变,或可为破解深源地震的诸多未解之谜提供关键突破口。
