Exploiting differences across U.S. states, this paper demonstrates that there is a tight link between higher education policies, past enrollment rates, and recent changes in the college wage premium among labor market entrants. The analysis reveals, however, that this relationship is much weaker in states with high private enrollment rates, high levels of interstate mobility, or interstate trade. The withinstate estimates of the own-cohort relative supply effect shed some light on the extent to which the U.S. labor market can be characterized as a single national market or a collection of state-specific labor markets. 本文利用美国各州之间的异质性差异,证实了高等教育政策、过往入学率与劳动力市场新进者的大学工资溢价近期变化之间存在紧密关联。不过分析结果显示,在私立高等教育入学率较高、州际流动程度较高或存在州际贸易的州,这一关联要弱得多。州内维度下的同队列相对供给效应估计结果,阐明了美国劳动力市场在多大程度上可被界定为单一全国性市场,抑或是多个州级专属劳动力市场的集合。(JEL I21, I28, J22, J24, J31, R23)
