We investigated how host immune pressure shapes virus quasispecies and pathogenicity, using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster and one of its natural pathogens, Drosophila C virus (DCV), as a model. We performed an experimental evolution experiment in which three fly genotypes (wild type flies and flies in which the endonuclease Dicer-2 was either overexpressed or inactivated) were infected with DCV over ten fly generations. The parental stock and viral passages 1, 5 and 10 were subjected to sequencing.
本研究以黑腹果蝇(Drosophila melanogaster)及其天然病原之一果蝇C病毒(Drosophila C virus, DCV)为模型,探究宿主免疫压力对病毒准种与致病性的塑造作用。我们开展了一项实验进化实验,将三种果蝇基因型(野生型果蝇,以及核酸内切酶Dicer-2过表达或失活的果蝇)感染DCV后历经十代果蝇传代。对病毒亲本种群以及第1、5、10代的病毒传代样本进行了测序。
