COPD frequent exacerbator microbiome and inflammation

The lung microbiome is an inflammatory stimulus whose role in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) pathogenesis is incompletely understood. We hypothesized that the frequent exacerbator phenotype is associated with decreased alpha-diversity and increased lung inflammation.
