Seventh pandemic Vibrio cholerae O1 El Tor, Algeria

We have studied toxinogenic Vibrio cholerae O1 biotype El tor strains isolated in Algeria during the seventh pandemic of cholera. Since 1971, five 7PET sublineages have been repeatedly introduced into this country, and associated with cholera outbreaks.
