Facial Masks and Respirators Database (FMR-DB)

Recently, the coronavirus pandemic has made the use of facial masks and respirators common, the former to reduce the likelihood of spreading saliva droplets and the latter as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a result, this caused problems for the existing face detection algorithms. For this reason, and for the implementation of other more sophisticated systems, able to recognize the type of facial mask or respirator and to react given this information, we created the Facial Masks and Respirators Database (FMR-DB), that, unlike the other database released so far, also has an accurate classification of the most important types of facial masks and respirators.

近年来，新冠疫情使得口罩与呼吸器的使用愈发普遍：前者用于降低唾液飞沫的传播概率，后者则作为个人防护装备（Personal Protective Equipment, PPE）投入应用。这一变化给现有的人脸检测算法带来了应用难题。出于上述原因，同时为支撑能够识别口罩或呼吸器类型并据此做出响应的更复杂系统的落地，我们构建了口罩与呼吸器数据集（Facial Masks and Respirators Database, FMR-DB）。与目前已发布的其他同类数据集不同，该数据集还针对各类主流口罩与呼吸器实现了精准的分类标注。
