The associativism of workers from favelas in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte (1954-1964)

Abstract The article considers the formation of the Union of Workers from Favelas (União dos Trabalhadores Favelados - UTF) in Rio de Janeiro and the Federation of Workers from Favelas of Belo Horizonte (Federação dos Trabalhadores Favelados de Belo Horizonte -FTFBH) in the context of the democratic experience (1945-1964). Furthermore, it analyzes the formation of supra-local resident associations and how the culture and political identity of favela workers has been constituted in Brazilian’s process of urbanization. Grounded in historical research on favelas, the study’s analysis makes comparisons between the associations in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.

摘要 本文考察了1945年至1964年巴西民主执政时期，里约热内卢贫民窟工人联盟（União dos Trabalhadores Favelados，简称UTF）与贝洛奥里藏特贫民窟工人联合会（Federação dos Trabalhadores Favelados de Belo Horizonte，简称FTFBH）的组建历程。此外，本文还分析了跨地域居民协会的形成过程，以及巴西城市化进程中贫民窟工人的文化与政治认同的形成路径。本研究以贫民窟相关历史研究为依托，对里约热内卢与贝洛奥里藏特两地的居民协会展开对比分析。
