Based on the research question, the study’s approach was quantitative, specifically utilizing a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. All young film/TV professionals constituted the population, with the authors using random selection to sample 500 of the 4,761 members from Awesome Assistants, a Facebook group that allows followers to discuss news and careers in the film/TV industry. A 25-question survey called the Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (CDSES-SF) captured data, with the authors asking demographic questions about age and film/TV business coursework. The authors received 267 individual responses. Subjects under 18 years old, or over 35 years old, were not considered during the analysis. Respondents who did not answer their age or at least one item from each subscale within the CDSES-SF were also eliminated. For the remaining 240 subjects, the authors ran descriptive statistics and a t test using IBM Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) Statistics 27. A p-value less than .05 constituted statistical significance.
