We identified a key regulator of the rice leaf angle and plant architecture, OsWRKY36, from a rice oswrky mutant library. OsWRKY36 is highly expressed in the leaf lamina joint and promotes cell growth and expansion in adaxial parenchyma cells, leading to a greater leaf angle. Overall design: Total RNA was extracted from the lamina joint tissues and total plants of 10-day-old Nip, oswrky36 mutants, and OsWRKY36-overexpresing seedlings. Sequencing was performed using Illumina Hiseq technology.

本研究从水稻oswrky突变体文库中筛选得到调控水稻叶夹角(leaf angle)与株型(plant architecture)的关键调控因子OsWRKY36。该基因在水稻叶枕(lamina joint)中高表达,可促进近轴薄壁细胞(adaxial parenchyma cells)的生长与扩张,进而增大叶夹角。 实验设计概述:分别从10日龄日本晴(Nip)、oswrky36突变体以及OsWRKY36过表达幼苗的叶枕组织与整株植株中提取总RNA,采用Illumina Hiseq测序技术(Illumina Hiseq)进行测序。
