Deep eutectic solvents (DESs), which are a novel class of sustainable designer solvents, have attracted considerable attentions in the field of cellulose chemistry. Due to their low cost and analogous physico-chemical properties to ionic liquids, DESs are expected to be alternative solvents for dissolving cellulose. However, at present, the solubility of cellulose in DESs is much lower than in most ionic liquids. In this mini-review, we briefly summarize the current state of knowledge about cellulose dissolution in DESs. By comparing with similar solvents, it was found that the components of current DESs are usually involved in hydrogen bond interaction making difficult their interaction with the hydrogen bond network of cellulose.

低共熔溶剂(Deep eutectic solvents, DESs)作为一类新型可持续定制溶剂,在纤维素化学领域受到了广泛关注。鉴于其成本低廉且理化性质与离子液体相似,低共熔溶剂被认为是纤维素溶解的替代溶剂。然而目前纤维素在低共熔溶剂中的溶解度远低于其在多数离子液体中的溶解度。本微型综述简要总结了当前关于纤维素在低共熔溶剂中溶解的研究进展。通过与同类溶剂的对比分析可知,当前多数低共熔溶剂的组分通常会参与氢键相互作用,从而难以与纤维素的氢键网络发生相互作用。
