Underlying Data and Screening Log for "Maize Canopy Architecture and Chili Shade Tolerance in Tropical Intercropping Systems: A Systematic Review of Microclimate Modification, Genetic Adaptation, and Breeding Targets"

This dataset contains the complete record-level screening decision log and full search strategy documentation supporting the systematic review "Maize Canopy Architecture and Chili Shade Tolerance in Tropical Intercropping Systems: A Systematic Review of Microclimate Modification, Genetic Adaptation, and Breeding Targets." The dataset comprises two files: 1. Underlying_Data_Screening_Log.xlsx — the complete screening decision log for all 828 unique records identified through a systematic search of Scopus and PubMed, following removal of 15 duplicates from 843 records initially identified. Screening was conducted as a single documented pass against pre-defined eligibility criteria, in two sequential stages, with an explicit reason recorded for every decision. The file includes a README sheet describing the screening methodology and summary counts, and a full Screening Log sheet listing source database, search block, bibliographic details, and the stage-by-stage decision and reason for every record. 2. Search_Strategy_Documentation.pdf — the complete, verbatim search strings used across three search blocks (Scopus maize block, Scopus chili block, and PubMed molecular/mechanistic block), including search dates, field codes, retrieved record counts, and the rationale for the multi-block search design. This dataset is provided to support transparency and independent verification of the review's evidence base, consistent with PRISMA 2020 reporting guidance.
