Genomic analysis of endocarditis causing strains of Staphylococcus aureus.

Staphylococus aureus is a principal cause of infective endocarditis, the infection of the endocardial surfaces of the heart and heart valves. We have established a unique collection of S. aureus clinical isolates from patients with endocarditis and other infection types. Whole genome sequencing was performed on a subset of 23 strains to investigate the genetic basis of virulence in S. aureus strains associated with endocarditis.

金黄色葡萄球菌（Staphylococus aureus）是感染性心内膜炎（infective endocarditis）的主要致病原，该疾病指心脏及心瓣膜的心内膜表面发生的感染。我们构建了一组独特的金黄色葡萄球菌临床分离株库，其分离来源涵盖感染性心内膜炎患者与其他感染类型患者。本研究对该菌株库中的23株菌株开展了全基因组测序，以探究与感染性心内膜炎相关的金黄色葡萄球菌菌株的毒力遗传基础。
