Anaerobic methanotrophic Archaea (ANME) have been observed forming cell aggregates with Betaproteobacteria; however, the metabolic potentials and roles of these Betaproteobacteria in the communities that perform an anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) are not yet understood. A cell aggregate that contained Limnobacter, which belongs to the Betaproteobacteria, and ANME2a was captured by micromanipulation. To obtain the genomic information, this aggregate was subject to multiple displacement amplification and Illumina Hiseq sequencing.
