本编釆辑江南运河相关资料5万字，来源于正史、编年史、地方志、水工档案、文集、类书等多源资料。资料年限上自夏代，下暂且至明代；资料较为连续。摘录内容约为江南运河及其相邻水系的开凿、修浚、废弃以及闸、坝等水工设施的建筑和管理等，举凡直接或间接的记载，本编尽量予以收录。

This compilation compiles 50,000 characters of data related to the Jiangnan Canal, sourced from multiple materials including official histories, chronicles, local gazetteers, hydraulic engineering archives, collections of essays, and encyclopedias. The data covers the period from the Xia Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty (temporarily ending at the Ming Dynasty) and is relatively continuous. The extracted content mainly focuses on the excavation, maintenance, and abandonment of the Jiangnan Canal and its adjacent water systems, as well as the construction and management of hydraulic facilities such as sluices and dams. All direct or indirect records are included as much as possible in this compilation.
