Global Precipitation Climatology Center (GPCC): Managed by DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst), which is hosted by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Two types of GPCC data are provided here: one is the Monitoring Data Product, which is based on quality-controlled data from 7,000 stations; the other is the Full Data Product covering 1951-2004, which is based on quality-controlled data from more stations (over 43,000) with regular temporal distribution. This product has optimized spatial distribution and is used for research on water balance. It should be noted that the observation-analysis gridded data products provided by GPCC have not corrected observation system errors, but they provide climatological estimates of errors and the number of stations included in each grid point. Currently, the GPCC Full Data Reanalysis Version 5 has been released, which includes reanalysis data at resolutions of 2.5°×2.5°/1°×1°/0.5°×0.5° and is based on observations from all GPCC stations (at least 10 years of data from 64,400 stations). Thus, it can be used for global and regional water balance research, correction of remote sensing data based on precipitation estimates, and model validation. However, in practical applications and evaluations, the number of stations in certain grid points and certain months should be considered, especially in regions with sparse observations. Note: The reanalysis data of the Full Data for February 1969 was recalculated on January 20, 2011, and the data for December 2005 and January 2006 was recalculated on April 18, 2011.
