Bifidobacterium species in the infant gut can metabolize intact human milk oligosaccrides. There is species varation in the types of the olgosaccharides that can bedigested by Bifidobacterium species. B. breve strains have shown digestion of LNT and LNnT oligoscchrides. The objective of te current study was idetification of B. breve strains that can digest sialylated oligosacchrides. The currnet study was designed to idetify the genes that show upregulation when grown in lactose, 3'-siallylactose and Bovine Milk Oligosaccharides Overall design: Three biological replicates each of B. breve SW1107E grown on three treatments - 2%Lactose, 2%-3'-SL and 2'-BMO. Samples were collected at midlog phase of growth in RNA protect and RNA was extracted.

婴儿肠道内的双歧杆菌属(Bifidobacterium)物种可代谢完整的人乳寡糖(human milk oligosaccharides)。双歧杆菌属物种可消化的寡糖类型存在种间差异。短双歧杆菌(B. breve)菌株已被证实可消化LNT与LNnT寡糖。本研究的目标为鉴定可消化唾液酸化寡糖的短双歧杆菌菌株。本研究旨在筛选在乳糖、3'-唾液酸乳糖(3'-siallylactose)与牛乳寡糖(Bovine Milk Oligosaccharides)中培养时,表达上调的相关基因。整体实验设计:将短双歧杆菌SW1107E菌株分别置于三种处理条件下培养,即2%乳糖、2%-3'-唾液酸乳糖与2%牛乳寡糖,每种处理设置三个生物学重复。在菌株生长的对数中期收集样本,经RNA保护剂处理后提取RNA。
