The "Molecular Underpinnings of Silicification In the California Current" (MUSiCC) cruise was study to linking biogeochemical, physiological, and molecular aspects of diatom silicification in field populations. The cruise was conducted aboard the R/V Oceanus Sur 19 April - 1 May 2015. The magnitude of PAR at incident irradiance (I0) just below the surface (I0) was used to determine the depths at which PAR was 55%, 36%, 14%, 5%, and 1% I0.

“加利福尼亚流系硅化作用的分子基础”(MUSiCC)科考航次旨在探讨野外硅藻种群硅化作用的生物地球化学、生理学与分子层面特征之间的关联。该航次由“R/V Oceanus Sur”科考船于2015年4月19日至5月1日期间执行。研究采用表层下方的入射光合有效辐射(Photosynthetically Active Radiation,PAR)强度(记为I₀),来确定光合有效辐射衰减至I₀的55%、36%、14%、5%及1%时对应的水深。
