The giant tiger prawn, Penaeus monodon (Fabricius, 1798), is widely distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region and is the most important penaeid shrimp for aquaculture and capture fisheries. P. monodon, commonly known as the Bagda shrimp in Bangladesh, belonging to the family Penaeidae in the order Decapoda, is widely distributed in the brackish waters.
