We undertook a three-year field trial in a subtropical forest to investigate the impacts of N deposition and biochar application (individually and in combination) on soil methane uptakes. Our objective was to unravel the physicochemical and microbial mechanisms by which biochar mitigates the suppressive effects of nitrogen deposition on soil methane uptakes.
