The species in the Cephalothecaceae family (Sordariomycetes) are saprobic or epiphytic, often grow on rotten wood or dead plants, and cause mycotic infection in humans. The genus Cryptendoxyla is included in the family Cephalothecaceae and can be identified by cephalothecoid peridium, cylindrical brown ascospores and a Chalara conidial stage.The strain MUT 1750 was assigned to Cryptendoxyla hypophloia by means of morphological traits and DNA sequence analysis. MUT 1750 is resistant to cycloheximide, an inhibitor of eukaryotic protein synthesis. The strain is deposited at Mycotheca Universitatis Taurinensis (MUT, www.mut.unito.it) of the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin, Turin (Italy).Here, we report the draft genome sequence of MUT 1750 obtained with next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques for understanding the molecular basis that can lead to resistance to cycloheximide and other features of biotechnological value. Our ongoing efforts include comparing the genome of MUT 1750 with other newly sequenced Cephalothecaceae genomes, highlighting both shared and unique features. The NGS and bioinformatics project was supported by the INAIL-DIT, Research Area (PAR 2019-2021).
