The central aim of this research project is to sequence, annotate and evaluate the genome of the gamma Proteo-bacteria, Xenorhabdus sp.GDc328.This microorganism is symbiotically associated with the species Steinernema Khoisanae and has been implicated in rapid host infection of agriculturally significant insect pests. The bacteria have also showed the capacity to adapt to different thermal regimes while successfully infecting insect host larvae. The main research objective of this project will include determining the total number of genes and possibly identifying those which are involved in host infection and temperature adaptation.

本研究项目的核心目标为对γ-变形菌纲(Gammaproteobacteria)嗜线虫杆菌属(Xenorhabdus)菌株GDc328的基因组进行测序、注释与评估。该微生物与科伊桑斯氏线虫(Steinernema Khoisanae)存在共生关联,且已被证实可快速侵染具有农业重要性的昆虫害虫宿主。该细菌还具备在成功侵染昆虫宿主幼虫的同时,适应不同温度环境的能力。本项目的主要研究目标包括确定该细菌的基因总数,以及可能识别出参与宿主侵染与温度适应过程的相关基因。
