The study was to investigate whether the coupling of GAC and exogenous hydrogen synergistically can enhance the conversion rate of phenol to methane via syntrophic acetate oxidation and hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis (SAO-HM) pathway and to explore the potential effect of the coupling in the shift of microbial community structure.
