新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)のパンデミック期にワクチン接種、保護、検査に必要な物資は、様々な国々で生産されている。本稿では、ワクチン、フェイスマスク、検査用品という3つの製品の壮大な話を紹介し、COVID-19との闘いにおける貿易の役割に焦点を当てている。COVID-19パンデミック期には、国際市場とグローバル・サプライチェーンが極めて重要な役割を果たした。そのおかげで、まず各国は、パンデミック対策として必要な物資を入手できるようになり、続いて一時的な供給難を緩和する手段を得て、さらに急増する需要に対応するために生産拡大に必要な主要な部品が入手できた。

During the COVID-19 pandemic, materials and supplies required for vaccination, personal protection, and testing have been produced across various countries. This paper introduces the sweeping narrative of three product categories: vaccines, face masks, and testing supplies, with a focus on the role of trade in the fight against COVID-19. During the COVID-19 pandemic, international markets and global supply chains played an extremely critical role. Thanks to these systems, countries were first able to obtain essential supplies for pandemic response efforts, subsequently acquired means to alleviate temporary supply shortages, and finally gained access to key components needed to scale up production to meet surging demand.
