Transcriptomics analysis of Prunellae Spica development

Prunella vulgaris L. (P. vulgaris) is a perennial herb that has a long history for use as a kind of medicinal and edible plant. Prunellae Spica is the dried fruit spike of P. vulgaris, which is regarded as a medicinal part and generally picked after the summer solstice withered. Transcriptomics analysis of Prunella Spica samples from five consecutive development periods (heading, flowering, green fruit, turning, and maturity) were carried out using Illumina RNA-Seq method.

夏枯草（Prunella vulgaris L.，简称P. vulgaris）是一种药食两用历史悠久的多年生草本植物。夏枯草果穗（Prunellae Spica）为夏枯草的干燥果穗，是其公认的药用部位，通常于夏至后植株枯萎时采收。本研究采用Illumina RNA测序（Illumina RNA-Seq）技术，对连续五个发育时期（抽穗期、开花期、青果期、转色期和成熟期）的夏枯草果穗样本开展转录组学分析。
