Human dimensions of illegal fishing and adoption of fisheries monitoring technologies by Sri Lankan multiday vessels

This study investigates illegal shark fishing by Sri Lankan multiday vessels. It explores fishers' awareness and perceptions of national shark fishing management regulations, as well as the drivers behind non-compliance. In addition, the study examines the adoption of fisheries monitoring technologies, particularly vessel monitoring systems (VMS) and automatic identification systems (AIS), and identifies key barriers to their effective use by fishing vessels.

本研究调查斯里兰卡多日渔船的非法捕鲨行为，探究渔民对国家捕鲨管理法规的认知与看法，以及违规行为背后的驱动因素。此外，研究考察了渔业监测技术的采用情况——尤其是船舶监控系统（VMS）和自动识别系统（AIS），并确定了渔船有效使用这些技术的主要障碍。
