This study investigates illegal shark fishing by Sri Lankan multiday vessels. It explores fishers' awareness and perceptions of national shark fishing management regulations, as well as the drivers behind non-compliance. In addition, the study examines the adoption of fisheries monitoring technologies, particularly vessel monitoring systems (VMS) and automatic identification systems (AIS), and identifies key barriers to their effective use by fishing vessels.
