马六甲海峡位于马来半岛与苏门答腊岛之间,是连接太平洋与印度洋的通道。马六甲海峡东、西两岸40 km内土地覆被数据集(1990、2000、2010, 2017)是采用Landsat TM/OLI影像,计算植被指数(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, NDVI)、水体指数(Normalized Difference Water Index, NDWI)、裸土指数(Bare Soil Index, BSI)和建筑指数(Normalized Difference Built-Up Index, NDBI),并采用决策树分类法和监督分类法完成的。数据结果与Google Earth的高分辨率影像进行了比对和验证。数据结果表明,1990-2007年,马来西亚半岛西岸城镇建设用地年均增幅达6.55%,农田年均增长1.2%,林地年均减少1.46%。苏门答腊岛东岸建设用地年均增幅达11.45%,农田年均增长2.42%,林地年均减少1.15%。数据的空间分辨率为30 m。数据集存储为TIFF格式,由8个数据文件组成,数据量3.36 GB(压缩为1个文件,52.2 MB)。
The Strait of Malacca, situated between the Malay Peninsula and the island of Sumatra, functions as a vital maritime passage connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The land cover dataset within a 40 km buffer zone along both the eastern and western shores of the Strait of Malacca (covering the years 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2017) was generated using Landsat TM/OLI satellite imagery. Specifically, four spectral indices were first computed: the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Bare Soil Index (BSI), and Normalized Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI). Subsequently, decision tree classification and supervised classification approaches were adopted to complete the land cover mapping. The derived dataset results were cross-compared and validated against high-resolution satellite imagery from Google Earth. Analysis of the dataset reveals that during the period 1990–2007, the western coast of the Malay Peninsula saw an average annual growth rate of 6.55% for urban construction land, a 1.2% annual increase in farmland, and a 1.46% annual reduction in forested land. Meanwhile, the eastern coast of Sumatra recorded an average annual growth rate of 11.45% for construction land, a 2.42% annual increase in farmland, and a 1.15% annual reduction in forested land. The dataset has a spatial resolution of 30 m. The dataset is saved in TIFF format, comprising 8 individual data files with an uncompressed total size of 3.36 GB (compressed to a single file of 52.2 MB).
