Microorganisms naturally often occur in complex communities that can increase the persistence of the involved species under unfavourable conditions. We analyzed microbial communities exposed to harsh environmental influences in the Austrian Alps in order to reveal the complexity and extend of prevailing interactions. Samples were obtained from snowfields and freshwater ponds at two geographically separated locations and subjected to an integrative approach. Due to the relevance for biotechnological applications, special emphasis was put on bacteria-algae associations.

微生物在自然环境中通常以复杂群落形式存在,这类群落能够在不利条件下提升所涉及物种的存续能力。本研究针对奥地利阿尔卑斯山区受极端环境胁迫的微生物群落展开分析,旨在揭示其内部普遍互作关系的复杂性与范围。研究样本采集自两个地理分隔区域的积雪场与淡水池塘,并采用整合研究方法进行处理。鉴于该类群在生物技术应用中的重要价值,本研究特别聚焦于细菌-藻类共生关联。
