Data was collected based on the number of crawling insects versus flying insects that were found within an area containing a low density, medium density and high density of plants. Two types of traps were set up in order to gather an accurate census of the data; the first trap being a pit fall trap, which was utilized to capture and examine crawling insects, while the second trap being a pan trap which was used to observe the flying insects. The 2 types of traps were placed in adjacent proximity of each other. Each pair of traps was placed approximately 5 meters apart from each other with a total of six pairs of traps per density. The first set of traps were placed on October 14th 2014 and was examined of the number of insects in each trap the following two days. The second set of traps were placed on October 21st 2014 and were also observed and recored the following two days of when they were placed. The experiment took place at the grasslands east of Stong Pond.

本数据集基于对某区域内爬行昆虫与飞行昆虫的数量统计采集而成,该区域的植物密度分别设置为低密度、中密度与高密度三个梯度。为精准获取该数据集的普查数据,研究布设了两类诱捕装置:第一类为陷阱诱捕器(pit fall trap),用于捕获并调查爬行昆虫;第二类为盘式诱捕器(pan trap),用以观测飞行昆虫。两类诱捕器相邻布设,每对诱捕器间距约5米,每种植物密度下共设置6对诱捕器。首批诱捕器于2014年10月14日布设,并于布设后次日起连续两日清点各诱捕器内的昆虫数量;第二批诱捕器于2014年10月21日布设,同样于布设后次日起连续两日完成观测与记录。本实验开展于斯通池塘(Stong Pond)东侧的草原地带。
