Characteristics of the study population.

Values for face photographs and conjunctiva photographs indicate the presence of each feature using the majority consensus from three independent photo-graders. Ocular chlamydia was assessed by polymerase chain reaction from conjunctival swabs. Bootstrapped 95% confidence intervals were resampled at the community level to account for intracluster correlation (n = 999 replications).
