Predatory Journals Investigation

This repository hosts the code and data to an explorative study how the aesthetics of journal research papers differ between potential predatory publishers and legitimate publishers. In total 443 legitimate and 555 potential predatory Open Access papers were investigated by using a strict quantitative approach that analyzed metadata, typography and layout aspects as well as quantifiable visual characteristics.
