We characterized the impact of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration on the in vivo plasma oxylipin profile in dairy cattle and in vitro cultured bovine adipocytes. For in vivo experiments, cows received either sterile saline (SAL) or saline containing LPS at 1 ug/kg bodyweight infused into the jugular vein over 20 min. Plasma samples were collected immediately before infusions (PRE), 2 h after (+2H), and 12 h after (+12H) and flash-frozen. For in vitro experiments, mature bovine adipocytes were exposed to 1 ug/mL LPS for 3 h. Following, culture medium was collected and flash-frozen. Oxylipin metabolites in plasma and adipocyte culture medium were then quantified via LC-MS/MS.
