Anaerobic methanotrophic archaea are crucial in mitigating the atmospheric release of methane. Genomic evidence has indicated that cytochromes may facilitate the extracellular electron transfer of ANME to different electron sinks. However, the physiologically relevant mechanisms and specificity of these cytochromes in ANMEs EET are not well understood. Here we examine cytochrome mediated EET by Candidatus Methanoperedens nitroreducens for the reduction of metals and electrodes in bioreactor enrichment batches.
厌氧甲烷氧化古菌(Anaerobic methanotrophic archaea,ANME)在减缓大气甲烷排放过程中具有关键作用。现有基因组学证据表明,细胞色素(cytochromes)或可介导ANME向不同电子受体完成胞外电子传递(extracellular electron transfer,EET)。然而,目前针对ANME胞外电子传递过程中,此类细胞色素的生理相关作用机制与特异性仍尚未得到充分阐明。本研究以候选种硝基还原甲烷穿孔古菌(Candidatus Methanoperedens nitroreducens)为研究对象,探究其介导的胞外电子传递过程,考察该过程在生物反应器富集批次培养体系中对金属与电极的还原能力。
