Child Labour Risk: Country

HACE’s Country Risk Index allows organisations to better understand their risk exposure, prioritise due diligence, and improve sourcing practices when exploring their supply chains. Ultimately, this will safeguard businesses from operational, reputational and legal Child Labour risk. The Index measures the risk of Child Labour with up to 30 customisable metrics, with the option of Sector-specific data (e.g. **Apparel, Footwear and Furniture** or **Mining and Extractives**), or a Sector-agnostic view.

HACE’s Country Risk Index includes metrics from Goods- and Sector-specific insights, to Child Labour prevalence and from socio-economic and educational indicators to national and international legal framework indicators.

A country’s Risk score is provided as a number between 0 and 100, with 0 being low risk and 100 being high risk. This is an average of HACE’s two areas of risk measurement;

- The ‘Goods’ score
- The ‘Frameworks’ score.

Logistic functions and other aggregation methods, including higher weightings for more direct indicators, are used to combine the selected metrics into comparable and easily digestible scores.

The underlying data will be refreshed every 6 months, but this is dependent on HACE’s data sources and whether new data is published. Data sources include the US Department of Labor, the International Labour Organization, UNICEF Data Warehouse, UN Stats, UIS Stat, World Bank and ILO Stat.
