This dataset contains the yield increment with irrigation in South Africa, which is defined in this Atlas as (Irrigated Yield - Dryland Yield) / (100 mmGross Irrigation Demand). In light of increasing costs of irrigation water, which may vary from region to region according to its availability/scarcity, and the role played in irrigation scheduling by naturally occurring rainfall, yield increases need to be expressed with respect to the amount of irrigation water required by the plant for maximum yield over and above the natural rainfall utilised by the plant.

本数据集涵盖南非地区的灌溉增产幅度,本图集将其定义为:(灌溉产量(Irrigated Yield) - 旱地产量(Dryland Yield)) / (100毫米总灌溉需水量(Gross Irrigation Demand))。鉴于灌溉用水成本持续攀升,且不同地区的用水可获得性与稀缺性存在差异,同时自然降雨在灌溉调度中扮演着重要角色,因此增产幅度需要以作物为实现最高产量所需的、超出其自身已利用自然降雨量的灌溉水量为基准进行表述。
