Based on the ArcGIS platform, this dataset was developed through data collation and digitization, by extensively collecting the latest research data on active faults and seismotectonics in Central Asia, and compiling the seismotectonic map and seismic zoning map of the region. The mapping scope covers Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The seismotectonic map marks the locations, activity characteristics and names of seismogenic faults (active faults), as well as the epicenters of earthquakes with magnitude ≥5 occurring between 1960 and 2020. The seismic zoning map takes the peak ground acceleration (PGA) with a 10% exceedance probability in the next 50 years as the indicator to conduct seismic hazard zoning. These maps can be used for studies on active tectonics and seismic disasters in Central Asia, providing seismic safety guarantees for large-scale engineering and infrastructure construction in the region.
