Transcriptome profile of Merkel Cell Carcinomas

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare neuroendocrine skin cancer with a particular incidence in elderly Caucasians; MCCs can be subdivided into two distinct subtypes: polyomavirus positive or polyomavirus negative. Here, we use comparative transcriptomics to gain an understanding of the genetic drivers behind MCC aggressiveness in these two distinct MCC subtypes.

默克尔细胞癌（Merkel cell carcinoma, MCC）是一种罕见的神经内分泌皮肤癌，在老年白种人群中发病率尤为突出；该肿瘤可分为两种截然不同的亚型：多瘤病毒（polyomavirus）阳性型与多瘤病毒阴性型。本研究采用比较转录组学方法，以期解析这两种MCC亚型中肿瘤侵袭性背后的遗传驱动因素。
